Dr. John Clarke

Consultant Cardiologist

Dr. Clarke qualified from University College Dublin in 1980. He trained in cardiology at the Mater Hospital in Dublin before moving to the Royal Postgraduate Medical School at the Hammersmith Hospital in the UK where he completed his MD (NUI) and PhD (London)theses. This was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University in California.

 

Dr. Clarke returned to Ireland in 1993 establish the practice which has grown exponentially over the years.

Dr. Carla Canniffe

Consultant Cardiologist

Dr Canniffe graduated from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2004. She completed her specialist cardiology training in Ireland and went on to specialise in the field of congenital heart disease.

 

She undertook fellowships in Ireland – Paediatric Cardiology in Our Ladys Hospital Crumlin and Adult Congenital heart disease (ACHD) in The Mater Misericordiae hospital. She also gained international experience in The Royal Prince Alfred, Sydney and most recently spent 3 years working in the world’s largest adult congenital heart service- St Barts Cardiac Centre, London. There she developed her sub-speciality interests of aortopathy and cardiac maternity medicine.

Dr. Daniel O’Hare

Consultant Cardiologist & Electrophysiologist

Dr. O’Hare graduated from the University of Limerick Graduate Entry Medical school in 2011, and was awarded the Gold Medal in Medicine. His cardiology training in Ireland included Specialist Registrar years in University Hospital Limerick, University Hospital Galway,  St. James’  and St. Vincent’s Hospitals in Dublin.

 

After completing his Irish cardiology training years, he studied for MD in King’s College London in the area of electrical conduction in the atria and the role of Cardiac MRI in the evaluation of the arrhythmia patient. He completed a clinical fellowship in Electrophysiology in St. Thomas’ Hospital Westminster. During this time he was the Cardiology Foundation Lecturer for Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Foundation Trust, and was selected for the inaugural cohort of the British Cardiovascular Society’s Emerging Leaders Programme.

 

Prior to returning to Ireland, he worked as a post CCT Electrophysiology fellow in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

Dr. Stephen Tuohy

Consultant Cardiologist & Electrophysiologist

Dr Tuohy is a graduate from the School of Medicine at National University of Ireland, Galway in 2009 and was the recipient of the gold medal in paediatrics. Dr Tuohy also holds Bachelor of Science from NUI Galway and a Master of Science in Clinical Research from NUI Galway. Doctorate of Medicine was obtained from University College Dublin based on research on the genetic basis of sudden cardiac death in the young in Ireland. Has multiple presentations and peer reviewed publications in the field of cardiac electrophysiology.

Dr Tuohy graduated from Cleveland Clinic Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship in 2018. This was a two-year program in advance electrophysiology training in a high-volume procedural centre of excellence.
After fellowship Dr Tuohy was appointed as Attending Cardiac Electrophysiologist in Maine Medical Center, Portland, Maine and Assistant Professor of Medicine Tufts University Boston USA.
In 2020 Dr. Tuohy decided to return back to Ireland.
